Micron halts work on its $4.5 billion chip fab
Micron has paused construction of a $4.5 billion (about 30 billion yuan) memory-chip plant in Taoyuan, Taiwan, Bloomberg reported, citing an ongoing labor dispute. Management is increasingly worried that an agreement previously reached with the local union could be overturned. The halt shows how labor and political risk can stall even multi-billion-dollar chip capacity at a moment when memory supply is strategically critical to AI hardware.
