Chinese AI and cloud firms ordered about 6M RTX Pro 5500 cards worth roughly $70B, but Nvidia can supply only about 1% within the next 4 months
Chinese AI and cloud firms have reportedly ordered about 6 million Nvidia RTX Pro 5500 cards worth roughly $70 billion, with Alibaba, Tencent and ByteDance alone accounting for more than 3 million, yet expect only about 1% of the order within four months. The Blackwell workstation card carries 21,760 CUDA cores and 84GB of GDDR7 memory and falls outside US export limits, while Nvidia is said to be able to build at most 3 million units worldwide in 2027. That matters because the shortfall shows how export controls and production capacity, not demand, now set the pace of Chinas AI build-out — though the figures come from press reports citing unnamed sources and are unconfirmed by Nvidia or the buyers.
