OpenAI makes its Jev competitor widely available as decision model competition heats up
OpenAI's Decisions API — ChatGPT Luna reconfigured for fast, cheap decision-making at 100–180 ms latency, with new voice and visual modalities — is now generally available after its September 29 developer-day announcement. Trials at Box, Datadog, Ramp and Speak cut action latency from 1.4 s to 0.13 s in one case. Why it matters: OpenAI is validating the decision-model category pioneered by TypeSafe's Jev, signaling that LLMs could be displaced in many workflows by faster, far cheaper purpose-built models.
