onsemi Confirms Plan to Acquire Integrated Voltage Regulator Maker Ferric for at Least $600 Million in Cash
Semiconductor maker onsemi announced on November 2 that it plans to acquire Ferric, a maker of integrated voltage regulators, for $600 million in cash plus up to $175 million in contingent payments, with the deal expected to close by the end of 2026 and about 50 Ferric employees joining onsemi. Ferric technology integrates power control, transistors, inductors and capacitors into a single compact package, saving 50 to 70 percent of board area versus discrete regulators and supporting denser power delivery. The deal matters for AI infrastructure because onsemi raised its 2030 AI data center revenue target by $500 million to over $3 billion on the back of it, as power delivery becomes a bottleneck for AI data centers.
