Google to Invest $15 Billion in Malaysia to Expand Data Centers

Google plans to invest $15 billion in Malaysia over 2027 and 2028 to expand its data-center and cloud business, building new compute centers and investing in local water security, power supply and skills training. Google says the construction phase alone is expected to contribute $1.1 billion to Malaysia's economy and support more than 37,000 local jobs a year, with over 9,000 jobs a year once the centers are operating. The scale matters because Malaysia has become Southeast Asia's most important data-center hub, as AI services keep driving demand for storage and compute.
