Ministry of Commerce: work plan to accelerate adoption of smart products in consumer sectors coming
At a press conference on the 15th Five-Year Plan, China's Ministry of Commerce said it will roll out a work plan to speed up the application of smart products in consumer scenarios, alongside measures to expand car consumption and grow service consumption. The plan extends a July 2026 State Council consumption blueprint that set a 2030 target of 60 trillion yuan in retail sales and backed AI-plus-consumption and smart-home ecosystems. Why it matters: it signals that Beijing's next growth engine is consumer tech demand, and it opens a state-backed market window for smart terminals, robots and AI home devices.
