ByteDance reportedly to broadly restrict employees' internal use of Claude, Codex and other tools at their own expense

According to a November 3 report, ByteDance will from this month ban external AI access for all L4-level code repositories and Feishu documents company-wide, so employees' personally purchased AI accounts can no longer be used there. After the notice circulated internally last week, technology vice president Hong Dingkun responded in detail, saying leaks of L3-and-above content would have very serious consequences. Why it matters: L4 repositories hold core assets across the company's business lines, and this extends a May 2025 phased ban on third-party AI coding tools such as Cursor and Windsurf, with its Trae assistant as the replacement.
