Tesla faces consumer complaint in South Korea for marketing FSD despite cars being unable to use it

A South Korean consumer group plans to file a complaint with the Fair Trade Commission on November 5, alleging Tesla marketed its Full Self-Driving software even though most cars sold in South Korea cannot legally use it. Only about 20% of registered Teslas in South Korea can use FSD, all US-made, while more than 170,000 Shanghai-made cars have been sold there since 2023 and FSD typically costs 9.043 million won. The group is seeking an interim order barring Tesla from marketing FSD to ineligible models, plus a fine and a referral for investigation, which makes this a test of whether self-driving marketing can run ahead of local approval and safety rules.
