Community safety report and new protections for teens
OpenAI committed to a new Community Safety Report on violence prevention, with the first edition in early 2027 covering the second half of 2026 and updates every six months, and said it made over 200 law-enforcement referrals in Q3 2026. It also tightened limits on reconstructions of past mass attacks and on weapons-related information for teens, and will automatically end chats that fixate on violence. It matters because ChatGPT's scale makes its safety policy a public-safety issue, and the report adds transparency to how its safeguards work in practice.
