Hackers steal $6.3 billion from Binance in record crypto heist
Binance has suspended all withdrawals after what appears to be the biggest heist in history, with an estimated total impact of about $6.3 billion. Around $3 billion in affected assets, mainly stablecoins, has been frozen, but analysts at Elliptic said the attacker converted about $3.3 billion into assets that cannot be frozen and is working to cash them out. Why it matters: the split between frozen and unfreezable funds will decide how much of a record crypto heist can actually be recovered.
