‘World's Largest GPU Heist’: Nvidia Hardware Worth $11.4 Million Vanishes in Transit
A shipment of Nvidia GPUs and related hardware worth about $11.4 million, loaded on six pallets, went missing while being transported from Oakland, California, to Texas after being picked up on August 29 by a truck impersonating a food transport company. Investigators traced the truck to San Bernardino County before losing track of it, and Oakland police received the theft report on September 13, with no arrests reported so far. Multiple outlets describe it as the largest known single GPU cargo theft, and cargo-security trackers link it to an organized crime wave targeting AI chips and data center equipment in the US since mid-2026.
