Nvidia pushes cloud customers to cut back on China business
Nvidia has told some cloud customers, including Nvidia-backed neoclouds, to take on less business from Chinese companies, a non-mandatory steer for future contracts that also asks them to disclose end users. The move targets a gap in US export controls, which restrict chip shipments but generally do not cover remote access through cloud services abroad. Why it matters: it could narrow a route by which Chinese AI developers tap advanced Nvidia chips without importing them, and push cloud providers toward a more diverse customer mix.
