Hackers Hit South Korea's Financial Sector in a Wave: Crypto Exchange and Brokerages Breached
According to Yonhap, crypto exchange Bithumb, Mirae Asset Global Investments and Daishin Securities were all hacked, with Daishin saying personal and credit information of 38,490 customers leaked, and the Financial Supervisory Service sending an on-site team to Daishin. The attacks follow an October 26 intrusion at Mirae Asset Life Insurance, leaving nearly every major part of South Korea's financial industry — except credit card firms — confirmed hit, pointing to a sector-wide campaign rather than isolated incidents.
