20 organizations including Huawei, Alibaba, Tencent, Xiaomi, Baidu and Volcano Engine jointly draft and release the Agent Development Self-Regulation Convention, opposing the use of agents for algorithmic exploitation and illicit online activities

At a Wuzhen Summit forum, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and 20 organizations including Huawei, Alibaba and Tencent jointly released the Agent Development Self-Regulation Convention, setting out eight self-regulation measures covering trust systems, interconnection infrastructure, interoperability, security and user rights. The convention opposes using agents for algorithmic exploitation and illicit online activities, and promotes technologies such as rule embedding and compliance testing. Why it matters: it gives China's agent sector a shared industry-level rulebook for interconnection and safe governance, rather than leaving each company to set its own norms.
