Teaching AI to Drive with AI: Baidu's Apollo World World Model Debuts
Baidu Apollo unveiled Apollo World, an agent-driven, full-modal world model for physical AI, at its AI Day Apollo session in Shenzhen on November 3. In its virtual cities, vehicles and pedestrians act as decision-making agents rather than scripted props, so the world responds to the autonomous vehicle's actions. Baidu also proposed a '2+3' yardstick for world models — causality and interactivity as the baseline, plus physical accuracy, persistence and real-time performance — which matters because simulation quality now sets the pace for autonomous-driving development.
