Apple's Extreme Protection Challenged: iPhone 18 Pro in Lockdown Mode Jailbroken, Jailbreak Survives iOS 27.2 Update
Security team Calif posted a video on X showing an iPhone 18 Pro with Lockdown Mode enabled being jailbroken, with the jailbreak surviving an update to iOS 27.2. The demo reportedly starts with a malicious PDF sent via AirDrop that the user accepts, though full technical details have not been disclosed. The case matters because Lockdown Mode is Apple's extreme-protection setting for a small number of high-risk users, and Apple told TechCrunch that as of March 2026 there was no evidence any spyware had defeated it. Calif says it is disclosing the flaw to Apple and does not plan to release a jailbreak tool to end users.
