US Department of Homeland Security hacked, sensitive data of over 40,000 employees leaked
Distributed Denial of Secrets published data on more than 40,000 US Department of Homeland Security employees, including staff involved in surveillance and human intelligence. The leaked material covers names, phone numbers, email addresses and job roles across agencies such as ICE, CBP, HSI and CISA, from which personnel handling special operations, surveillance, computer forensics and undercover work can be identified. This is the third major US government data leak in a month, after the FBI in September and the Defense Department last week, and it matters because it exposes sensitive personnel to identification and risk.
