Sweden's Government Offices to ban direct ChatGPT and Claude access on work computers

According to Sweden's national broadcaster Sveriges Radio, the Swedish Government Offices will from next Monday block staff from directly accessing ChatGPT and Claude on work computers, directing them to approved AI services such as Microsoft Copilot instead. Digitalization director Mikael Wettercrantz said AI services without a signed agreement could pose an information-security risk, and the tax agency and the Swedish Agency for Public Management have taken similar steps. It matters because another national government is now formalizing restrictions on unmanaged shadow AI use at work — part of a broader institutional pushback that is reshaping how AI tools enter public-sector workflows.
