OpenAI prepares lobbying blitz for a post-midterm Washington

According to Axios, OpenAI is preparing a lobbying and PR push after the US midterms, bracing for tougher regulation if Democrats win control of the House. Policy chief Chris Lehane plans to steer the AI debate through 2028 around the pitch that AI does not replace people, proposing binding safety rules he calls speed limits. Facing local backlash against data centers, OpenAI also plans to rebrand them as AI Compute Campuses, with fast-tracking safety rules for frontier models as its top priority in the new Congress.
