Delaware plan would let AI agents run businesses
Delaware has drafted a plan for a new Artificial Intelligence Company entity whose day-to-day business would be run by AI agents rather than people, with the company able to sign contracts, pay suppliers and sue or be sued. The proposal is still at the draft stage, with a 30-month regulatory sandbox proposed, and it has backing from the governor alongside scrutiny from the chair of the US House Oversight Committee. It matters because Delaware is where about two-thirds of Fortune 500 companies are incorporated, so the model could become a template, and it raises unresolved questions about who bears responsibility when an autonomous company acts.
