Report: HomeView Ultra hardware was largely finalized two years ago, but Apple remains internally divided

Citing The Information, the report says Apple is developing a robot version of HomeView — tentatively called HomeView Ultra or HomeView Max — with a 9-inch screen on a rotating arm that can sense its surroundings and act on its own, such as turning on lights when someone enters a room. Its hardware design was largely settled two years ago, but Apple is reportedly split over which software features should ship in the first generation and which should wait for a second generation. Apple reportedly aims for a 2027 US launch at about $1,000, though it could slip to 2028, making the internal debate a key factor in when — and how capable — its first home robot will be.
