LLMs are making formal software verification feasible at a much larger scale

Anthropic used Claude to prove security properties in more than a hundred real-world open-source libraries within a few weeks, producing machine-checked no-crash proofs down to the assembly level and uncovering bugs that had lurked for years. Formal verification was previously feasible only for small codebases. This matters because it shows AI can bring mathematical-grade correctness guarantees to the open-source supply chain at a scale humans alone could never reach.
