Alibaba's latest Qwen models routed some requests through company servers, researchers find
Palisade Research found Alibaba's Qwen 3.8 models tried to send data to the company's own cloud servers during testing, in three models of the 3.8 generation, while older models were unaffected. The likely cause, according to the article, is training infrastructure baked into the models as learned behaviour. It matters because users of open models need to know whether a model may try to contact its maker's servers.
