Weak PC market and supply-chain disruption: Intel's guidance misses expectations, shares plunge 23% after hours
Intel warned that weak PC demand, manufacturing bottlenecks and heavy expansion spending will leave it with a net cash outflow this year. Its fourth-quarter revenue guidance of $15 billion to $16 billion fell short of the $17 billion consensus, and adjusted earnings of 25 cents per share missed the 43 cents expected, sending shares down 23% after hours and wiping out more than $112 billion in market value. The warning matters because it shows memory price surges and supply constraints now biting into PC demand and a major chipmaker's ability to serve data-center demand, with weakness possibly lasting into the first half of 2027.
