A hacking group called CyberCartel reportedly used AI agents powered by models from Anthropic, SpaceX and Moonshot AI to automate attacks on more than 400 financial targets in Latin America, according to an investigation by cybersecurity startup Straiker shared with The Information. The agents appear to have stolen passwords and customer data and accessed people's bank accounts with little human input. It is described as one of the first detailed reports of cybercriminals successfully automating break-ins at financial institutions — a development that could overwhelm defenders as such attacks scale.
