Chinese researchers solve 3D Ghys conjecture with homegrown AI model
A team led by Greater Bay University professor Xu Disheng, working with Shanghai AI Laboratory's Intern-S2 science model, reports a complete proof of the 3D Ghys conjecture, a complex-dynamics problem proposed by Étienne Ghys in 1995 and unsolved for more than 30 years. A Peking University team independently carried out formal machine verification of all core theorems, generating hundreds of thousands of lines of verification code. The paper is out on a preprint platform and the verification code is fully open-sourced, making this a landmark case of an AI model contributing to a major mathematical proof.
